OFFERINGS IN A JOURNEY
Exodus 24
We see God calling Moses and Joshua but why Joshua and not Aaron while we
know God initially send Moses and Aaron together with him? Aaron was a
spokes man to Moses but Joshua was Moses’ servant. Moses was Gods
servant and Aaron was also God’s servant but they were not the same. Aaron was
helping Moses to fulfil his work but Joshua was serving Moses. To God, Joshua
was more important than Aaron because Joshua was for Moses as Moses was for God.
This shows that Joshua and Moses were together all the time but Aaron was not with
Moses all the time.
Whatever Moses was doing, Joshua was the doer and whatever was happening
to Moses was also happening to Joshua but not Aaron. This means that Joshua
knew everything that Moses knew. In the church these days we have more helpers
than servants. If you are in this church, don’t help me but do what I do. If
you just help me you will get nothing.
John 14: 12 “Very
truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do
and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the
Father.”
We see Jesus is so aware of the person who trusts Him that the person can
be part of Him and does what He do. If you say that you are helping me, it means
you have your own things and what you are helping me with is not yours. Don’t
be mad of those who just come to help us and then leave when they are done with
the help. When builders come to build they just build and leave when they
finish up the building, and that is the same in church. When a neighbour child
got punished he will go back to his home but a child at home when punished will
just cry around and remain at home. Those who are of God have nothing to disappoint
them.
In Efatha, I don’t need Aaron, but Joshua so that when I rebuke and admonish
them, they don’t carry their baggage and leave, but stay at the corner of the
house, cry and come back to the family.
The bible says Moses was called by God to receive the commandment of
which he will use to teach the Israelites. Anyone who is called has the
teaching to teach his people stage by stage, given to him by God. The teachings
you receive from a certain calling are not the same with teaching given in
other calling. You should know that the teachings you receive from a certain
calling are the ones which gives you permission to partake the authority to enter
the feast of the lamb.
Before getting where God is we see Moses and Joshua (not Aaron) stayed
without eating for six days. Why six days? It was for the sanctification.
Exodus 25: 1- 40 “The Lord said
to Moses: 2 Tell the Israelites to take for me an
offering; from all whose hearts prompt them to give you shall receive the
offering for me. 3 This is the offering that you shall
receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue,
purple, and crimson yarns and fine linen, goats’ hair, 5 tanned
rams’ skins, fine leather,[a] acacia wood, 6 oil
for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense,......”
We see in this chapter before giving them the laws/ teaching from God,
God gave instructions first on how to give offerings. Everything that was
instructed was for the Kingdom of God and for us now. Below are meaning of some
of the instruction
- Purple means the Holy Spirit
- Silver means the nails which Jesus was nailed
- Wood means the crucifixion of Jesus
- White means holy
- Brass means the crown that Jesus was given
- Gold means a crown we will receive when we get to heaven
- Ephod was to carry the anointing oil for the worship which represent our prayer and our cry which became incense before the mercy sit
- Oil was for light because light is the Word, so it was kept there for the light to be there day and night
- Fragrance incense for the anointing oil is about the gifts of the Holy Spirit
- The stones talks about the stone used to cover the tomb and that is why Jesus is called the corner stone
Those offerings and gifts was the collection from people to build the
sanctuary where God can dwell. Giving is more important if you want to prosper
and be among the great that is why God before telling them why they should
give, He told them to give willingly, with a loving heart.
