OBEY GOD'S COMMANDS, AND YOU WILL SEE HIM IN YOUR JOURNEY

Exodus 24:1-18 “Now He said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him........”

In these verses we see God giving another command to Moses to take with him few elders from the seventy children of Jacob (remember the 70 household which went to Egypt with Jacob). Here we see a representative from each of the seventy families of Israelites was called before God. If you want to conquer the enemy who brings trouble in the family you must understand the family chain and create unity in the family because God recognise family.

God loves unity and if you want to have the victory easily recognise the importance of unity in the family. In unity no one will feel timid and be a reason to cause destruction in the family. We see when Joseph was calling his father in Egypt; he made sure that all of the family members are together first so that no one will be left behind. Start to unify first those of the same father with you before going to other members of your clan.

We see again the burned offering and peace offering because this is how you can conquer the enemy easily. This is because the burned offering makes God happy and sees that you have recognise His position and with peace offering you show God that you are together with Him (remember the previous session). If you are together you will hear Him. God wanted Moses to teach people to reconcile with God and give God the position He deserves.

In verse 6 to 7  we see the first thing Moses did was to sprinkle blood at the altar in order to sanctify the altar and then read to them what God has commanded him that they may hear what the Lord has said. When the Israelites accepted what God told them we see Moses again sprinkled blood to them and said now the covenant is fulfilled. Where did Moses got this idea of sprinkling blood to the altar and to people? In chapter 4 we saw God had already told Moses that He will be with his mouth this means whatever was coming from the mouth of Moses was permitted by God, therefore what he did was already given out for him to say by God and whatever he said is what God performed.

We see those who went with Moses up saw God with their eyes because He removed His hand for them to see Him without dying. If God desires you to see Him, He will remove His hand on you and you will see Him. Why did He grant them sight? So that they may believe that Moses is truly the servant of God.

We see again Moses had to remain for six days (without food or water) because the cloud covered the mountain and they could not go ahead. He had to remain there for those days so that he can be sanctified before going ahead to meet God. On the seventh day Moses was called alone by God and left his assistant Joshua (without food or water) for forty days. Here we learn that it is not easy to be near the servant of God.

Moses then went to the mountain for forty days apart from the first three and then six days. We see he left the elders and his assistant away while the mountain was burning but we see Joshua was obedient and never ran back to the valley because of the threatening of the mountain. Ask yourself how long can you wait before the Lord alone without food or water and threats all around you? When you are obedient you accept all.

Exodus 25:1-40 “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an [a]offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering. And this is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze; ....”

In those forty days Moses was been taught what to do to make the tent of meeting and the Ark of Testimony. God wanted Moses not to journey in the mountain to meet God every day but prepare a place where God will visit and have the Ark of Testimony which has all the Ten Commandments which were the covenant to the Israelites. God wanted to dwell with them by preparing a place He may dwell in their midst.

God wanted all that was to be used to prepare the tent and the Ark to come from the Israelites because He knew He gave them gold and everything when they were coming out of Egypt. Here we learn that when you receive something and you don’t understand what to do with it, be patient and keep it because it is God who gave you and He knows what it is for.

In verse 2 we learn that God will only use things from those who willingly love to give Him because not everyone has the heart of love to give offerings to God. When He says those with a loving heart should give it is because it is only those who lives Him will prosper and He do not want to prosper those who don’t love Him. It is those who love to give and not those who have things to give who God wants them to give Him so that He can grant them His goodness. Don’t give your offering if you don’t love God and if you love Him give your offering to Him and you will be surprised of what will happen to you.

In our time, God is not in the mountain and tent any more but through Jesus He is now in our hearts.
