THE POWER OF UNDERSTANDING

Ephesians 5:15-17 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, ¹⁶ making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

In life, the most important thing is knowing the WILL of God.

When you know the WILL of God, your life must harbour that WILL. The way you think, speak, and act must harbour the WILL of God. Know and understand what time to do this and that.

How do you get understanding?

You get understanding by studying the word of God. Heaven is delighted in people who study and learn

Studying the scriptures helps you to recognize the WILL of God. When you study and open the scriptures, your spiritual eyes get sight. You cannot win the devil by just reading the bible but by studying the word day by day (learn the WORD gradually).The move of God in humans’ life is manifested by studying the word.

Example: Daniel became wise by studying the books of Jeremiah.

After studying, take what you have learnt and go with it in prayer, this is how you win the devil. Don’t pray because you are going through certain circumstances, or because you have quarrels in marriage, or because you have lack, but in every situation; take the bible and books relating to that situation and study, after studying take what you have learnt and go with it in prayer and in return you will become victorious.

When you gain understanding, the heaven answers your prayers. ‘Understanding is the key’

Heaven listens to you and answers your prayers when you deliver them with understanding.

There are some attitudes and character needed in you for you fulfill the expectations of god. God has some expectations and that is why He saved you. If you don’t understand, you will never fulfill them. When you understand the expectations of God for you, you make God act. When you fail to understand, you make Him to stay silent. Readiness to make God act is the product of how and what you understand.

God uses you depending on the capacity of your understanding. When you have the capacity of understanding, whether you are educated or not, whether you are known or not people will seek you.

For example: Some people are educated and are walking with certificates to seek jobs because of lack of understanding, but those who have understanding people search them.

The one who ‘knows’ is the one who has faith (knowledge elevates faith). When you know, the devil will know and the heaven will know that you know. Devil will know who you are, and you will know who he is; the heaven will know who you are and you will know heaven.

Once you know, you will know your way and devil will know his way and there will be no destruction or confusion. You win the devil by understanding not by fasting and praying.

Those who have understanding have knowledge, and those who have knowledge are wise and are the rulers.

Understanding will take you into knowledge and wisdom. The work of wisdom is to help you know which time to do what.

If you want to know the mind of God, you need the spirit of understanding. Understanding is the mind of God. When God sees that you have understood, He come and walks with you. God never walks with fools.

Joy is the character that will take you towards understanding.

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Why joy?

The Joy of the Lord is necessary for it is your strength.

You cannot study and learn if you are not joyful. Example: If you look at those who are scoring high grades in all spheres, they are those who have joy or who are joyful. No matter what happens, keep your joy. Wherever you go and whatever you do, keep your joy.

To get understanding, watch where you are heading.

Most people like to look behind and are so concerned with what happened in the past. You should not be concerned with what happened but what will happen. Only the devil is concerned with the past and what happened, but God is not concerned with what happened but what will happen. God is concerned by your actions now/today.

The act of today can build or destroy your future, so whatever you do; WATCH AHEAD, what you see will help you to make decisions about what you will do now and make your future better.

Knowing your future will help you watch what you are doing every day. How you live today will determine whether you will reach the future or not. Today is the essential preparation to reach the future you desire.

When you know how to study, it is easy for you to know your future but failure to study, restricts you from knowing the outcomes. Jesus knew His end before going to the cross. Joseph knew his end before he was sold.

Joyfully, celebrate that God has already prepared a destiny for you. When you celebrate that, understand that God is not tired with you. Understand that there is no delay in God. When you celebrate your end, know that He is able to take you through and understand that where He is taking you, there is no self-effort but what you need is just obedience. Forget yourself effort and keep celebrating God. Every time when your praises raise higher to God, your destiny raises more. The more you give to God, the more He gives you.

Through understanding, your enemy becomes very low. When you have understanding, you can move with God. In Mathew 11:25-27 the bible says

“I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children................” A believer must live as a baby and walk as a lamb.

Characteristics of a baby:

·  A baby does not defend him/herself but always seeks defence from the parent

·  A baby loves to eat (A believer must eat more spiritual food in order to grow)

·  A baby has a lot of curiosity and desires to know things (Church must have the curiosity to study and allow their minds to study and discover things).

·        A baby always loves to play (A believer must learn how to dance before the Lord and praise. He/she must be joyful)

Those who have the above traits are the ones who get understanding. By revelation, you understand the mysteries of God.

If you want to get out of chaos and problems, get understanding.
