ORDINATION
1
Samuel 16:4-10 “Samuel did what
the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the
town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?” Samuel
replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.
Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he
consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice...........”
The
time for ordination is the time for:
- Sanctification
- Separation
- Sacrificial offering
- Meekness
The time for ordination is not for
celebration but a time of service. You should know that ordination is a very
important time for you to be keen, for it is very dangerous as you are being
set apart for the work of the Lord.
Why
is ordination dangerous?
It is because when you are ordained, you are set
apart for God, and you will not live according to your desire but according to
the instruction of the One who has ordained you.
Ordination is not the time to be entitled with high
ranks, but it is the time of service, serving the expectations of the one who
ordained you and not your expectations. After you have been ordained, you must
always think of the expectations of the one who ordained you.
When Jesse
and his sons saw Samuel they asked him, do you come in peace? They asked while trembling
for they knew that the role of the anointed person is to release blessings or
judgement. Samuel answered them that he came for peace for he was there for two
things:
- To sanctify them
- To give a sacrificial offering
When
you are ordained, it means you are a sacrificial offering to God and therefore
you must live for God and not for you. If you see that you have been ordained
but you are still poor, it means you are living on your desires and not God’s
desires. If you are ordained be very keen to live according to how you have
been ordained.
When
you are ordained make sure you understand that it is not by your power but by
the mercy of God.
When David
was ordained he never remained the same, he was powerful to kill the lion and
bear. When you are born again, devil has no power over you, unless you allow
him. Sickness and diseases are not allowed to torture you for you have
authority over them. Poverty has no power over you.
When God chooses somebody, it means He has something to do with him/ her.
