THE BIRTH OF A DREAM

Genesis 37: 1- 6 “And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:…………….”
Josepha had two dreams of becoming a leader of his eleven brothers and his entire family including his father and mother.

Many times we think that a dream will take long to be realized, we fail to understand that the dream is realized when we dreamt. The two dreams that Joseph had, made his brothers hate him even more and immediately thrown him in a pit but God delivered him. They sold him to passing merchants who sold him to Potiphar a governor in Egypt. Potiphar discovered something in Joseph after staying with him in his house and he did something different, he gave him authority over all his estate and told him he would be the overseer of all that belongs to him (take note that he was a slave who has no right and his master was an educated man). How could he trust a slave with all that he had have?

The leadership that Joseph had, was not realized when is his brothers came to him in Egypt, it was born when they throw him into the pit. When he was lifted from the pit he was not Joseph the dreamer but Joseph the great. What they sold to the merchants was not Joseph the 11th born son. They sold their leader but they could not see a leader in Joseph but a dreamer and they decided to eliminate the dreamer by throwing him but God lifted him from.

In the pit God started working on Joseph. The weapons the enemies will use to eliminate you God will use those instruments as tools to elevate you.  Where they don’t know you they will not appreciate and respect you because they don’t know your history. God called him to a dark room where nobody could see him and they did not want to associate with him.

In the dark room Abraham was made a father, where nobody knows him. God isolated people in a dark room to produce a great person for the sake of His name. In a dark room is not a place of association but a place of isolation, a place of rejection, it is the valley of the shadow of death. God works on you when you are alone. Many Christians today hide in multitude and don’t want to isolate themselves to meet with God.

In your isolation God works on you. In the dark room you don’t need to do what others are doing, obey what the master is saying. Forget about the nature provision for God is going to provide (read John 5). We are not of this world we are citizens of heaven and whatever the masters says do it, if it is giving, give all you have without opposition. God use the dark room as the maternity where He makes reality to every dream you have in isolation. It was in isolation that God worked on Abrahams barrenness and made him a father of a great nation.

Genesis 37: 28So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.’ The people who sold Joseph (the leader) were the same people that he would lead for they could never though he could be their leader as there is nowhere in history a slave made to a manger. There was something in Potiphar that was not in his brothers, he saw greatness, and that greatness made him see Joseph as a leader and gave him authority. Authority is not a position but a dominion.

The rob of many colors Joseph was given by his father had the colors of leadership. His brothers thought by stripping of his rob they will kill his dreams but God produced those leadership colors from the inside.

Joseph was made a leader from the pit, that’s why Potiphar made him a leader. The inside out leadership colors made Potiphar’s wife to admire him. If God brings your inside out, people will admire you. All anointed people and those who walk with God are attractive. The most attractive people are in church.

From the dark room God creates greatness. Where ever you are, you must take dominion. When you are drunk with the Holy Spirit you can stand before anyone and tell them that there is no one greater than them.

Don’t run away from your spiritual father’s house. If you go to a far country you will be called dead like the prodigal son.

Even in prison, Joseph’s greatness was still seen and he was made a leader over all the others. A leader is the one who can be able to solve people problems regardless where he is. A leader does not need to be helped but this greatness will create a need to make him not to be forgotten. A good leader is humble and does not share God’s glory, but gives all the glory back to God.
